The Large School Varsity Girls Race was capped off by the return of a great individual rivalry and team rivalry between Diana George and her Livermore squad and Nicole Hood and her Carondelet team. Hood had recently returned from an injury and was looking forward to her first cross country race of the season. George had an extraordinary track season in both the mile and two-mile and seemed quite prepared. Both Livermore and Carondelet, however, were going to have to deal with College Park...the home course team, giving them a sizeable advantage at Hidden Valley.
Immediately the race went to the two distance juggernauts. Diana George and Nicole Hood attacked the race from the start, not willing to let the other go. It was a close race between the two all the way to the last stretch of grass with Hood finishing in 12:03.3 and George in 12:04.9. Close behind these two talents, was another talented lady, Sarah Tusting from Benecia, who finished a commendable third in 12:05.8. The team competition proved that Carondelet is ready to burn it up this season. Carondelet had all 5 scoring racers in the top 15, with their 6th and 7th runners cracking the top 25! Livermore finished third and the home-town heroines of COllege Park finished second, ahead of Livermore by only 15 places!

The Ed Sias Invitational has become one of the most fun invitationals of the cross country season. The anticipation for a new season, the reuniting of old coaches and friends, the excitement that Coach Woolridge has built, all of these things help to make this a great kick off to the season. This meet gets veteran athletes excited and new athletes hooked and most importantly...it is the only Cross Country Invite with an "annual dance contest"
Thanks Chuck!
